Marching into Spring!
WHAT A MARCH!
Last week we had a snow storm, absolutely beautiful with those huge flakes coming down covering our mountains. This week, we’re having temperatures in the mid-seventies! I love these four seasons—we can have them all in one week.
MORE MARCH IMPRESSIONS!
Meeting Paul Young, author of The Shack, at Montreat College (right up the road from me in NC) was really a treat. I gained great insight into the man, his extraordinary life, and his relationship to God. The book is even more meaningful to me after having heard his story.

TWO GREAT WRITER EVENTS COMING UP IN MAY
MAY 17-21, 2009 — After 25 years of directing the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference, I turned it over to Alton Gansky last year. He has a great one lined up for this year. I will be teaching Writing the Inspirational Romance Novel. Check out the CRITIQUE and CONTEST opportunities: www.lifeway.com/christianwriters.
MAY 21-JUNE 4, 2009 — WANNA BE IN THE MOVIES?
If you want to learn how to write TV and film scripts, how to be interviewed, or just learn how to write scenes and characters the way they do for movies, or get a movie trailer made, come to the Gideon Media Arts Film Festival May 31-June 4, 2009 at Ridgecrest/Lifeway Conference Center. www.lifeway.com/gideonmediaarts and/or www.gideonfilmfestival.com.
AUTUMN IN THE MOUNTAINSovel Writers!)
The third annual Blue Ridge “Autumn in the Mountains” Novel Retreat will be October 4-8, 2009. Great faculty: Janet Benrey, Ron Benrey, Eva Marie Everson, Dr. Dennis Hensley, Steven James, DiAnn Mills, Tom Morrisey, Deborah Raney, Ann Tatlock, and director Yvonne Lehman. www.lifeway.com/novelretreat. Morning intensive classes, afternoon writing time and workshops, evening discussion groups. For beginners and published novelists.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL
DiAnn Mills and I at the end of the day (could you tell?) at the Autumn Novel Retreat. I'm holding a copy of DEVOTIONS FOR CHRISTIAN WRITERS. I don't normally write devotions, but was asked, so I sent three and they are included in this book, published by Infinity Publishing Company. All proceeds go to The Writing Academy to help other writers. I'm being blessed by reading one of these each day since they cover the kinds of things writers go through...'nuff said!
UPCOMING RELEASES
 |
Aloha Love, the first in a series of historical Hawaii novels, will be released in April. I’ve finished the second, Picture Bride, and am working on the third, Love from Ashes.
My novel, A Bride Idea, is to be released in August by Barbour in a collection called MOUNTAINEER DREAMS, along with novels by Lauralee Bliss and Irene B. Brand. Each novel is set in West Virginia. |

WONDERFUL REVIEW
Today my friend/fan, Aggi Stevenson, sent me this picture of her and her terrific review of Coffee Rings that she said she'd had on her blog for months. I'll have to start looking at my friends blogs!
Hey Girlfriends. You have got to check out Coffee Rings! I promise you will have a hard time putting it down. Eunice, Annette, Ruby, and Lara are waiting to meet you within the 303 pages. You will put a face and name, of your friends, to each of these vivid characters. When it ends … you will be mad. You feel as though your four new friends left the country and you will never see them again. Yvonne leaves you wanting more. Well, she has plenty more. She is the author of 46 novels…but who’s counting. Check her out at Amazon.com.
I feel privileged to know Yvonne. She is petite, smart and hilarious, all wrapped up in a down-to-earth, wonderful little package. Enjoy!
Blessings and best wishes to each of you.
